HENDERSON --There are cries for justice from a Vance County neighborhood, after a midnight shooting spree. The triple shooting killed one person and sent two people, including a fourth grader to the hospital.
Neighbors gathered at the scene of the shooting for a cookout on Saturday. They witnessed the triple shooting that killed one man, injured another, and wounded a child.
"I don't know who did it, it happened so fast," the Victim's Mother, Brenda Harristede said. "It was terrifying to hear. It was terrifying!"
Harristede is describing how she felt when she saw 19-year-old Hassan Terry cut down to bullets, seconds after his mother heard the gunfire.
"And we all ran in the house. Then somebody said your son just got shot. And when I went out there, he was laying on the ground," Harristede said. He said 'Ma." five times."
Terry was killed. The other boy wounded in the shooting is recovering.
"He's fine, though he had two surgeries at Duke. And he has two bullets embedded in him," the Nine Year Old Victim's Mother, Sular Eaton said.
The third victim's has been released from the Hospital. Neighbors had angry words to say to the gunman.
"You are a coward! Because if you're brave enough to shoot, then you should be brave enough to know there's consequence," Victim's Cousin, Flora Wilson said. "So come out, face your consequences, and then let somebody in the county do something to stop the violence!!"
"They murdered my son! And I hope they have a mother too, and a child, who face and feel what I'm going through," Harristede said.
"If we have a street full of thugs, then where are the real men, the real people, who will step forward and get them off the street? The church people need to band together and walk the streets," Wilson said. "Talk, cry, do whatever you gotta do!"
Police didn't give Eyewitness News much information about their investigation.
