Police say they're investigating two Memorial Day homicides.

The first happened just after midnight on Catawba Street.

About 12:30 a.m. Monday, officers went to a shooting call and found 34-year-old Kenneth Barnard Green lying next to his vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives say it appears Green was visiting friends in the area prior to the attack.

The investigation continues.

Second murder

Around 8:40 a.m., police got a call about a possible breaking and entering at 334 Rhew Street.

Upon arrival, they found a dead man in the home.

The man has not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Detectives have also not said how he died.
