Flames ripped through Nobles Baptist Church on Old Raleigh Road in Wilson County Sunday.
Video captured on a cell phone shows the fire sweeping through the church and the temple tumbling to the ground. Firefighters battled the blaze for about two hours.
Pastor Rodney Walls says lightning hit the building around 6 p.m. No one was inside.
Church members are working to salvage some of the items inside the building.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
