Body found in Johnston Co.

JOHNSTON COUNTY

Pictures from Chopper 11 HD showed a singlewide mobile home with a crowd of law enforcement vehicles parked near crime tape.

Witnesses said neighbors called 911 Monday evening after discovering a man dead inside the home.

Emergency responders found what was believed to be a methamphetamine lab inside the building.

Inside the house, sheriff's deputies discovered the body of a 55-year-old male near a working methamphetamine lab.

Due to safety concerns, officers backed out of the home to wait for agents with hazmat suits to re-enter the property.

Authorities said it appears the victim was living alone in his house, but exactly how and when he died has not been determined.

While the dead man's name was not immediately released and a cause of death was not given, the NC Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy on the man's body.
