A Harnett County Sheriff's Office news release says officers got a call about a shooting at 4122 Wire Road at 10:54 p.m. Sunday night.
They found 29-year-old Michael Wayne Wright dead at the scene.
Detectives said Wright went to the home to confront Christopher Shane Brock who is dating Wright's ex-girlfriend.
Deputies say their preliminary investigation shows that Brock shot Wright during the confrontation, but the investigation is continuing and no charges have been filed.
Wright’s body was sent to N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
