Sheriff Lane Carter says his office received a report on April 15 that a 12-year-old girl had been touched inappropriately. The incident occurred at a home near Carthage.
Investigators arrested 41-year-old Terry Buie of Carthage on July 15.
He is charged with indecent liberties with a child and assault of a female.
Buie's bond was set at $25,000 with a first court appearance on August 2, 2010.
