Man allegedly dumped gas on ex-girlfriend

RALEIGH Police say 40-year-old Michael Williams threw gasoline on his ex-girlfriend inside a car near an Exxon filling station on New Bern Avenue in south Raleigh.

Authorities say words were exchanged as the gasoline flew, but nothing was lit and no one was burned.

But during the altercation, gasoline was also doused near the woman's 7-year-old daughter, who was in the front seat. Prosecutors have charged Williams with assault on a child under 12.

It is just the latest charge in the repeat felon's fiery criminal past. Records reveal Williams has been in and out of jail for years.

Williams is currently in the Wake County jail on a $30,000 bond.
