Sex offender arrested after ABC11 investigation

RALEIGH

James Freeman was taken into custody for alleged indecent liberties with a child, entering a place primarily for the care of minors, and failure to report a change of address.

He was being held on a $1 million bond.

According to arrest warrants obtained by ABC11, the indecent liberties with a child accusation is from an incident that allegedly occured August 1.

The I-Team reported Tuesday that Freeman worked around children at the Quality Education Institute daycare in Raleigh as a maintenance contractor - despite being on North Carolina's sex offender registry.

Records show Freeman did more than two years behind bars on two different convictions for taking indecent liberties with minors.

Daycare managers acknowledged Freeman worked at the center, but said he did so on weekends and was not around children.

Two former employees - who asked not to be identified - said Freeman was at the center when children were there.
