A Durham teenager who was shot early Wednesday morning has died from his injuries.

Police say 17-year-old Torian Thorton was shot in the head while riding in a car on East Club Boulevard. The driver of the vehicle he was riding in told ABC11 Eyewitness News the teens pulled into a gas station after noticing a vehicle following them.

Once in the parking lot, someone in the suspect vehicle opened fire on the teens and then drove away.Thornton was the only person in the car who was shot. He was sitting in the back seat.

Police have not made any arrests but police think the shooting stems from a fight that happened at a Cook-Out restaurant on Hillsborough Rd. sometime between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Det. Gaines with the Durham County Sheriff's Office at (919) 560-0880.
