Convenience stores robbed within minutes

Authorities are investigating two shootings and robberies that happened at two Johnston County convenience stores Wednesday night.The first one happened at a Shop-N-Go on Highway 42 at Highway 222 between Clayton and Kenly around 8:45 p.m. The second happened at another Shop-N-Go about 20 minutes later on Highway 39.

Authorities say an 18-year-old clerk at the store on Hwy 42 was shot and taken to WakeMed. The 62-year-old clerk at the second store was also taken to WakeMed after being shot.

The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Investigators have gathered evidence from the scenes and are currently searching for the people who fired the shots.
