The search for the men began Wednesday evening in Johnston County. The first robbery happened at the Shop N Go on Highway 42 east around 8:45 a.m. An 18-year-old clerk was shot during that incident.

During a second robbery that happened around 10 p.m., a clerk at the Shop N Go on Highway 39 was shot. A coworker identified that victim as 62-year-old Wesley Davis.

According to Christy Funk, who works with Davis but who was not at the store during the robbery, Davis called her.

"Wesley Davis, he's the one who got shot," Funk told ABC11 Eyewitness News. "He called me on my cell phone, and told me that he'd been shot, and I needed to get up with the owners."

When Funk arrived at the store, police were there talking to Davis.

"He said they were wrestling, and he took the gun from them, and he got shot," Funk explained. "He said he had his gun in his hand."

Davis was shot twice -- once in the neck and once in the arm. He was taken to WakeMed, but his condition is not known.

The condition of the 18-year-old clerk also is not known.
