Sexual assault suspect sought

Cumberland County Sheriff's Detectives are investigating a report of a sexual assault that allegedly happened in the College Downs subdivision off Andrews Road in Fayetteville last week. Investigators say the victim was home alone with her two children on Thursday afternoon, when a strange man knocked on the side door of her home and forced his way inside.

On Wednesday, authorities have released a composite drawing of the man the victim says is responsible for the crime.

He is described as a white man with dark hair that stands about 5 feet 11 inches tall and has a medium to large build.

The suspect has a military style haircut and was last seen wearing a tan armor T-shirt and military ACU pants, as well as tan colored Army styled suede boots.

It is believed that the suspect may have been on foot on the day of the assault.

Investigators say they are trying to determine if the attack may be related to a Peeping Tom incident that occurred in north Fayetteville last week.

At this point sheriff's investigators say they don't think the assault is related to a serial attacker who is wanted for a series of rapes and robberies in and around Fayetteville.

Anyone who has information that may assist investigators in the case is urged to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
