Police charge woman with Raleigh man's death

RALEIGH

According to Wake County Public Information Officer Phyllis Stevens, the Wake County Sheriff's Office was following up on a missing person's report when they went to a home in the 8600 block of Ray Road in the Stonehenge neighborhood and discovered the body of 52-year-old David Green, Jr.

Police charged 41-year-old Wendy Edmund Green with his murder Thursday. Stevens said Edmund Green was David Green's live in girlfriend and assumed his last name at some point during the relationship.

Wake County Sheriff Donnie Harrison says a family member first reported Green missing in early September.

"A neighbor saw him in April, family members hadn't seen him in quite some time," Harrison said.

Deputies had been to the home with family before, but didn't find anything unusual.

Harrison says when they returned Wednesday, they found a body in the house.

"Once we smelled the odor ... once we found the body, we backed out until the search warrant arrived," he said.

Further details surrounding the case are not being released at this time.
