One dead in Pine Level shooting

PINE LEVEL, N.C. Dispatchers first received a call of shots fired around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Officials say the first arriving officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, and performed CPR on him.

The victim was taken to Johnston Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Police have identified the victim as Devin Barber, and have charged Stefan Gudac - the son of a town commissioner - with first degree murder.

He is curently being held in the Johnston County Jail.

Officials say the investigation is continuing, but they don't anticipate any more arrests.

This marks the first homicide in Pine Level's history.
