Man with guide dog nearly removed from restaurant

DURHAM

Jenkins says he and his dog, Bandy, were at a table inside the McDonald's at 4301 Roxboro Road in Durham when an employee told him he had to get the dog out. Jenkins says a supervisor calmed the situation, "She explained to her what the dog was and apologized and I accepted the apology. But this is like the third incident and I can't take this anymore. It tears me up."

He called 911 to report the incident to police. Officers responded to the restaurant to take a report.

Jenkins says he and Bandy were kicked out of the same McDonald's two years ago and had a similar incident at another location. He wants service industry workers to know that guide dogs can legally go anywhere except a kitchen or an ICU unit.

Bandy has been at his side for five and a half years, and Jenkins says he is getting tired of incidents like the one on Sunday.
