Police searching for Cary break-in suspects

CARY Last Thursday, a woman called 911 in the early morning hours saying she was startled out of sleep after hearing suspicious noises inside her home.

Dispatch: And what makes you think somebody's inside your house?
Caller: We heard something downstairs. My husband woke up, went running and I think we heard footsteps. I, we heard something going on downstairs. We haven't gone downstairs.

Moments later, the woman told the dispatcher there was an unfamiliar vehicle outside her house.

Police say the woman told them it was a white or light colored truck or SUV seen driving in reverse out of a cul-de-sac. They say it is unclear how many people were inside it.

Authorities say the burglars entered the home through a back door and managed to escape with several items, including two computers and a BlackBerry.

The Cary Police Department is hosting a self-defense class for the community Monday night and will be holding a separate meeting Thursday to address concerns residents may have about the string of recent burglaries.
