Three shot during home invasion attempt

DURHAM COUNTY

It happened on Williamsburg Way. That's in the area of the Parkwood neighborhood in southeast Durham County.

According to investigators, the three men broke into the home and were confronted by the armed homeowner. All three suspected were wounded. The homeowner along with another guy driving the suspects' getaway car were not hurt.

Durham Lt. Stan Harris says the suspects were taken to Duke and UNC and all are in custody.

"During the day is when we've been encountering a lot of B&E in this area, but unfortunately he was home," Harris said. "We're still speaking with him, he's fine, he's shaken."

Deputies say another home across the street was broken into recently and they had stepped up patrols in the area.

"I pulled in and we came into our garage and all of my drawers were pulled out of the kitchen, so I sent the kids out this door right here and called the cops," neighbor Cassie Chrivia said. "I had set my purse on the counter and when me and cop went back in, my purse had been thrown across the dining room. They were in the house when I came in."

Chrivia says she's concerned enough to move.

Authorities have identifed two of the suspects as Gary Brady and Devine Thorp. They have not released the names of the other two suspects or the homeowner.
