Senate confirms Wake Co. judge as U.S. Attorney

Wake County Superior Court Judge Ripley Rand has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the next United States Attorney for the Middle District of North Carolina.Rand was nominated for the position by President Obama, after being recommended by Sen. Kay Hagan.

"Judge Rand has a distinguished record as both a Superior Court Judge and as an Assistant District Attorney," Hagan said. "I know he will serve our state well in his new role as a U.S. Attorney. I was proud to recommend Judge Rand to the President, and I am thrilled that last night the Senate unanimously confirmed him."

Judge Rand has served as a Superior Court Judge in Wake County since 2002. Prior to his appointment to the bench, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for the Tenth Prosecutorial District in Raleigh.
