Man donates $8000 worth of toys in son's memory

RALEIGH A rental truck filled with toys pulled up to the Bay Leaf fire station on Six Forks Road Saturday afternoon to drop off all the goodies.

Mike Groom had 20 people go to the Brier Creek Target yesterday to purchase $8000 worth of toys for the Marine Corps' "Toys for Tots" program.

Groom's son, Christopher, died in a 2003 car accident. His entire family was there to deliver the toys in his honor.

The Grooms have established a foundation in memory of Christopher, which you can find here.
