Police in Durham are investigating the second “smash and grab” in as many days. Just after 4 a.m. on Wednesday, police were called to the Affordable Jewelry and Pawn Shop on Hillsborough Road.

Someone used a minivan to smash into the store.

According to store owner Darrell Hutson, a few watches and various miscellaneous items were stolen. The guns and rifles in the store were untouched and all items placed on pawn were safe. The thieves left the van behind.

On Tuesday, police were called to the Gamestop store on New Hope Commons Drive. In that incident, a stolen car was used to crash into the store. Suspects then stole several thousands of dollars worth of video game items.
