Warrant: Man threatened wife with axe

WAKE COUNTY The State Bureau of Investigation requested the search warrant the day of the incident, as the agency began probing the deputy-involved shooting.

According to an affidavit sworn to by Agent Michael East, Cody Knisley, 23, threatened to "chop up" his wife, before she escaped from the residence and contacted her brother, who called 911.

That's when deputies surrounded the residence, and Knisley allegedly came outside with an object in his hands.

Three of the responding deputies then shot Knisley multiple times in the front yard of his residence, according to the warrant.

Knisley was taken to Wake Med, where he later died.
