Four arrested for Raleigh attempted robbery

RALEIGH Authorities say the suspects tried to rob a woman using an ATM at the Handee Hugo on Tryon Road just before 1 a.m.

Shots were fired during the attempted robbery, but no one was injured.

The suspects were spotted by police a short time later near NC State’s Centennial Campus.

After a quick pursuit, the suspects crashed on Lake Wheeler Road at Centennial Boulevard.

Police said two of the men were taken into custody shortly after the incident and two others were later apprehended.

Authorities charged 16-year-old Cedrick Antonio High and 16-year-old Shaquille Dshawn Hunter with conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Detectives also obtained juvenile petitions for two 14-year-old boys who are in custody in connection with the incident.

One faces charges of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle, while the other faces charges of conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle.

The vehicle used during the crime, a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, was reported stolen from a residence in the 1900 block of White Oak Road in Raleigh on Dec. 19.

The investigation of the case is ongoing.
