Sex offender arrested after social networking

CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Tony Michael English, 38, of 741 Helen Street in Fayetteville, is accused of trying to reconnect with his former child victims on the “MySpace” website. Authorities said he also sent his former victims private messages.

English told investigators he did not see anything wrong with what he had done, since the victims were no longer underage.

He was charged with felonious use of a commercial social networking website by a registered sex offender. The North Carolina law was created in 2008 to keep sex offenders off of social networking websites like MySpace and Facebook, where children could be contacted.

English is in the Cumberland County Detention Center under a $25,000 secured bond. He has a first court appearance Thursday.
