Investigators say they were making a check on the woman's welfare when they found her dead inside her home.
They're calling it a death investigation.
The woman's brother-in-law identified her as 49-year-old Mary Williams - a mother of six who lived alone.
He said she hadn't been seen in three days.
"Me and her sister had been inquiring about her cause I stay across the street from her sister and we were just wondering where Mary was at," he said.
The man said Williams' husband was murdered in 2007.
