PSNC has been working to isolate the pipe from the system and are building a bypass so gas service will remain on.
PSNC says it will take several hours until a repair is made, but no other time line for completion has been given. They say no one will lose service Thursday night.
Purnell Road is closed, but there are no evacuations.
Officials say motorists should avoid the area.
