State investigators are looking into reports of missing money on Green's watch. He did not attend the hearing about documents related to an SBI probe.
Green abruptly retired as Franklin County Sheriff in January, citing health and personal matters. Green was elected sheriff in 2006 and was re-elected in November.
Most attorneys, including the DA and those representing the sheriff's office, have no problem with the release of the documents. But Green's personal lawyer asked Judge Allan Baddour for more time.
"I have gleaned from what you all say, and what I've heard, that the investigation by the SBI deals with my client," Green's Attorney John Williamson said. "If the investigative results are in, I certainly want to see what's in it."
The judge has another hearing scheduled on Tuesday.
