Police charge costumed suspect in bank robbery

DURHAM Durham investigators have charged Derrick Reed Beulah, 37, of Hamlin Street with robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection with the case.

Police say he walked into the Wachovia Bank at 300 Foushee Street on Wednesday morning wearing a long wig and makeup.

He allegedly handed the teller a note which said he had a gun, and demanded money in large bills, all before riding away on what is believed to be a pink bicycle. No weapon was seen.

Investigators are asking anyone with information on Beulah's whereabouts to call Durham CrimeStoppers.
