Fayetteville police are investigating a Thursday afternoon crash that killed one person.

The crash happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Village and Owen drives.

Police say an initial investigation revealed that a green Ford pick-up truck was traveling south on Owen Drive when it was struck by a GMC minivan at the intersection of Village Drive. The mini was traveling west on Village.

The pickup truck then struck a white Chevy Suburban.

The driver of the pickup, 86-year-old Herman Douglas of Red Springs, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a witness who was involved in the crash, the minivan ran the stoplight.

"That white van ran the red light, and then it drove right into that green truck right there then the green truck flipped then hit my car," driver Venus Kiliski said. "It flipped twice."

Kiliski, 27, was driving the Suburban and said the light in her direction was green.

The driver of the minivan, 23-year-old Curtis Calhoon, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed.
