Troopers say a paint contractor's van ran off the road and hit a tree, trapping the driver inside.
Witnesses who called 911 told authorities the man's wife was at the scene, but she was not in the van.
Authorities say the man died soon after EMS arrived to the scene.
The state Highway Patrol is currently investigating the cause of the accident.
