Melvin allegedly fired the gun over the head of a man inside, but missed and hit the front of a flat-screen television set.
Melvin then gathered up the spent gunshot shells and left. As he drove away, Melvin fired another shot into the air from the window of his car.
Detectives say Melvin was in disagreement with William Avery, who lives in the home, when the incident happened.
Melvin is described as a African American man, standing 5' 9" tall. He has a short, cropped hairstyle and brown eyes. Melvin also has a teardrop tattoo on the right side of his face and the name "NATAE" tattooed on his chest.
He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information concerning Melvin's whereabouts is asked to contact the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at (910) 323-1500.
