Police: Robber killed at Raleigh poker game

RALEIGH

Investigators said police were called to a robbery in the 4000 block of Sweetbriar Drive around 11 p.m. Monday evening.

When they arrived, they found 28-year-old Brandon Dwain Shelton dead. Brian Matthew Onley, 23, was found nearby with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Police said Shelton and Onley entered the home armed and wearing masks in an attempt to rob a card game going on inside. There was a struggle and both men were shot.

A Raleigh Police Department spokesperson said Onley would be charged when he was released from WakeMed hospital.

No other charges have been filed, but the investigation continues.
