Residents unhappy with city landscaping

RALEIGH

Along Mourning Dove Road off of Six Forks Road, there are medians that were placed there by the City in an effort to slow down drivers, but some residents say what's in the medians do more harm than good.

"The impaired vision -- you cannot see the traffic coming down Mourning Dove," resident Charleen Evans said.

Evans, along with other residents who live on Mourning Dover, is upset with the landscaping in the median.

"The shrubbery is a blind spot," she added. "You just can't see until the car is right up on you."

There are two trees that are the problem.

Evans says you have to inch into the road in order to see what's coming. "I have almost gotten clipped several times."

She says she's called the City of Raleigh several times to complain. She said a worker came out and accessed the problem.

"He agreed with me that it was a hazard and he didn't understand why they were put there and would look into it and get back to me," Evans said. "That was over a month ago."

Frustrated and concerned for her safety, Evans contacted the Troubleshooter, who contacted the City of Raleigh. Within day the trees were down and now residents say they have an easier time seeing oncoming traffic.

"Thank you." Evans said.

A representative with the City agreed to look into the issue and offered no further comment.
