FAYETTEVILLE --Two people were being held at the Cumberland County Jail Sunday, accused of running over a police officer. Authorities say an officer noticed a car parked on a gravel road off South King Street in Fayetteville earlier Sunday.
When the officer tried to make contact with the people inside, police say the driver backed up and struck the officer.
The officer was not seriously hurt, but opened fired on the car, when the driver wouldn't pull his vehicle over.
The driver Kenneth Williams, 36, and Sidney Osborne, 55, were both taken into custody.
They're both facing prostitution charges, police say more charges are also pending.
