The Durham Police Department says it's treating human remains found in a vehicle as a suspicious death.

Officers checking out a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 2400 block of South Roxboro St. made the discovery shortly after 12:30 p.m. Friday.

A department spokesperson only said the remains were of an adult. She did not say if detectives had any idea how long the remains had been there, if they knew the person's identity, or if there was any preliminary indication of how the person died.

No information about the type of vehicle was given.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Robinson at (919) 560-4440, ext. 29335 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.
