Driver charged in restaurant crash

RALEIGH

Betty Jo Boykin Sledge is charged with careless and reckless driving.

Sledge allegedly drove her vehicle into a table of diners and then crashed through the front glass window of Noodles and Company in the Cameron Village shopping center just before 2 p.m. Sunday.

Witnesses said the 55-year-old told them she stepped on the gas instead of the brake as she tried to park.

Two of the victims suffered minor injuries and a third remained hospitalized as of Monday afternoon.
