The remains of Anthony Hayes were discovered found in a field off of Eastwood Avenue. Detectives made a preliminary identification based on a hospital ID bracelet found inside the pocket of the pants on the remains.
A medical examiner confirmed Hayes' identity using medical records.
Hanes was reported missing by family on January 28, 2010. He was last seen when he checked out of the Veterans Affairs Hospital on Ramsey Street on January 18, 2010.
He was 51 at the time of his disappearance.
The final autopsy results are pending and a cause of death has not been determined.
