Investigators said Nichols is a suspect in an incident September 7 in the parking lot of the Town and Country convenience store at 3700 Fayetteville Street. Someone in a vehicle fired several shots injuring two men.
Officers served a search warrant Wednesday at a home on Dover Road in the Hope Valley Country Club area, but did not find Anthony Alonza Nichols.
A Durham police spokesperson said he's wanted for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
Nichols was later arrested Thursday and is scheduled to make his first court appearance Friday.
