Police arrest teens after 'eventful' evening

FAYETTEVILLE

Police officers received a call about the attempted break-in around 6:30 p.m. after a resident at the Tiffany Court apartments spotted a suspect climbing up the side of the building.

The resident told authorities that the suspect was trying to open a window on the second story, but fell from the side of the building and ran away when he saw the resident step outside.

While at the apartments, officers received a call about a nearby robbery on Sunset Avenue. Several items, including a handgun, were taken from a home in the 200 block.

As officers were at the home, they heard gunshots fired in the area.

They soon found two suspects, 18-year-old Quantavius McDonald and 16-year-old Daryus Brunson, at the BP convenience store in the 1900 block of Ramsey Street.

When police went to arrest McDonald, he resisted and attacked the officers. After they were able to get McDonald under control and in handcuffs, the handgun stolen from Sunset Avenue was recovered.

Brunson was detained at the BP as well and matched the description of the suspect seen attempting to break into the residence on Tiffany Court.

McDonald is charged with felony-second degree burglary and possession of a stolen firearm, while Brunson is charged with attempted second-degree burglary.
