Teen allegedly points gun at bus driver

SMITHFIELD

Johnston County deputies said Derrell Devontia Anderson, of Brantley Circle, ran up to the bus as it stopped on Jethro Circle outside of Smithfield and waved a gun at the driver who was about to unload students.

It happened Tuesday, Nov. 22. Anderson was arrested Monday and charged with assault on a government official and assault by pointing a gun.

Deputies said several students were on board the bus when it happened. No shots were fired and nobody was hurt.

Deputies said they did not know the motive for the incident.

Anderson is a student at Smithfield Selma High.
