The bus driver of the Johnston County school bus that overturned earlier this week has been suspended.

Terri Sessoms of Johnston County Schools said Pamela Harper has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation into the accident.

Sgt. M. Kirby of the State Highway Patrol told ABC11 Harper was looking in the mirror at activity in the back of the bus when the accident happened. She is charged with failing to maintain lane control.

The bus overturned Tuesday afternoon on Oliver Road, just over the Wayne County line. At the time of the crash, 13 North Johnston High School and Middle School students were on board. No students were injured in the accident.
