Authorities in Durham have arrested a teen in connection with a shooting near a school Tuesday.

The shooting happened just before 1 p.m. when Durham police said two men started firing shots at a third man near the Healthy Start Academy in the 800 block of West Chapel Hill Street.

The school was put on lock down as police searched for the gunmen. However, they took off into the woods and were never found.

Police arrested 19-year-old Larry Joseph Harwell Wednesday in connection with the shooting.

Harwell is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm within the city limits and going armed to the terror of the public. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $50,000 bond.
