Deputies arrested Carlos McLaughlin, 24, Saturday morning and charged him with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Investigators say McLaughlin shot Patrick Stubbs, 28, during a fight in a home in the Carolina Lakes subdivision near Carthage.
Stubbs was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
McLaughlin was given a $25,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 4.
