Former Wake Schools Superintendent pens book

RALEIGH

Burns resigned in June 2010 after he disagreed with the direction of the then-Republican controlled school board.

Burns is now the co-author of a book called "Preserving the Public in Public Schools." The book was released last month. The book looks to explore the purposes of public schools.

Both authors say they want to reignite the public's passion to educate the next generation of Americans.
