The Fayetteville Observer reports the move came after newly elected commissioner Mike Mitchell made the motion after citing concerns about budgeting, personnel policies, and relationships with nonprofit agencies.
Mitchell said citizens expressed concerns about the town's management while he campaigned for office.
Under Beeman's contract, he will be paid for the next 60 days.
