The State Bureau of Investigation started investigating Cecil Parker last March after Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby requested an investigation into allegations of misconduct.
The State Attorney General's office would not comment on the nature of the allegations against Parker.
Parker resigned from his post last week after 19 years on the job citing "personal reasons."
