Police went to a home in the 200 block of Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh with a search warrant. They were working off a tip that a man there was selling crystal meth.
Search warrants show investigators confiscated more than five ounces of that drug. They arrested 43-year-old Lindsey Scott Thompson, but that wasn't the only crime he was charged with. Police also found other drugs including 51 ounces of GHB.
Police say many people in the area have been assaulted after someone spiked their drink with GHB, which often leaves the victim unconscious.
The find is especially alarming to those who work for agencies that counsel sexual assault victims.
"As disturbing as it is to hear of an arrest like this, a bust like this, we do recognize that GHB is available in our community as well as other rape facilitating drugs," said
Damita Chambers, with InterAct of Wake County. "And, you know, we see it on a regular bases in the clients that we talk to about rape and sexual assault."
Raleigh police consider the bust "significant."
