Police officer shoots man during drug search

It happened in the 900 block of Colfax St., near Jacob St., in Durham.

Durham Police Department spokesperson Kammie Michael said officers entered a home at 905 Colfax Street just after 10:30 a.m. and came up against an armed man.

Michael said shots were fired and 19-year-old Rahmil Ingram, of Chapel Hill was hit. Ingram was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition was not available.

He faces two counts of assault with a firearm on a law enforcement officer, one count of possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, one count of possession of a stolen firearm and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia charges.

Officers also arrested Vincent Gunter, 43, and charged him with two counts of possession of cocaine with the intent to manufacture, sell or deliver, two counts of sale and delivery of cocaine, one count of maintaining a dwelling for keeping or selling a controlled substance and one count of felony conspiracy. He was placed in Durham County Jail under a $50,000 bond.

Officers seized cocaine, marijuana, cash and a firearm from the home.
