Police said 27-year-old Joseph Michael Woods kicked down the woman's door Tuesday morning, and then began punching, kicking, and trying to choke her. Woods fled the scene. It happened at a home in the 5100 block of Arizona Court.
Woods faces attempted first degree murder, felony strangulation, and breaking and entering charges.
The victim was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital. Her condition has not been released.
