Smithfield assisted living center closed

SMITHFIELD, N.C.

The move comes after state inspectors say they found dirty beds, a sewage backup, roaches, mice and more at Autumn Wind Assisted Living.

The Department of Social Services says the owner was "encouraged" to shut down his facility until he could make structural repairs and take care of some of the problems.

In December, inspectors found dirty beds, linens, trash and rodents. The 17 people who lived at the home were transferred to another living facility.

The owner failed to respond to a request for comment from ABC11.
