Three former UNC student-athletes are facing charges for using cocaine, according to police.

Officers found Jacob Groeschen, 20, Shane Mularkey, 21, Nicole Suarez, 21, at the top of a parking deck on Rosemary Street Friday just after 1 a.m. Police said the trio appeared to be using cocaine. Officers found drug paraphernalia on two of the suspects, as well as a bag containing cocaine residue.

Both Groeschen and Mularkey are former Tar Heel football players. Mularkey is a former linebacker, but left the team last May after shoulder surgery. Groeschen was a walk-on quarterback, but served this past season as the team manager. He has been suspended from his duties.

Suarez is a former cross country runner.

All three were charged with felony cocaine possession and second-degree trespassing. Groeschen and Mularkey also face charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The three were released on $1,000 bonds.

Mularkey is the son of NFL coach Mike Mularkey. In January, Mike Mularkey accepted the head coach position at the Jacksonville Jaguars.
